Joan Kelly – Owner, Instructor, Choreographer:
Joan Kelly founded Dancesteps Etc. in July of 1989. She is a certified Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) and Dance Masters of America (D.M.A.) instructor Originally employed as an engineer while teaching dance on the side, she decided to follow her dream and open her own dance studio In Epsom, NH. With extensive dance, performance, and instructional experience in the fine arts of ballet, tap, jazz, modern, hip/hop, lyrical and musical theatre, Joan continues to educate herself by attending workshops and classes whenever possible at such schools as Steps on Broadway and Broadway Dance Center. She is active in local theatre, choreographing and even performing in them whenever possible. Joan has studied under such greats as Savion Glover, Edward Villella, and Steven Boyd. Many of Joan’s student’s achievements have been realized in the form of awards, certificates, various medals, scholarships, and college degrees in dance.
Jamie Tisbert : Artistic Director-
Instructor, Choreographer :
Jamie is starting her 12th year as an instructor at Dancesteps etc, blesses with natural ability and talent, she started her dance career with Miss Joan at the age of 3, and has become a successful choreographer of 13 years, winning numerous awards at the regional and national level. She will also be starting her 11th year as Pembroke academy’s Dance Team coach Jamie’s students find her energy to be endless and feel her ” no nonsense” approach during class brings out the best in them. Jamie’s love and passion for the students and for dance couldn’t be any stronger. As Jamie say’s ” it’s what I was born to do ”
Kateline is now starting her 3rd year at Dancesteps Etc. She has been dancing at Dancesteps Etc. for 7 years. Kateline is a graduate of Pembroke Academy’s she is very involved with the Dance Team and hope’s one day to be the coach. Kateline has inspirations of opening up her own Dance studio one day.
Lynn Briggs – Instructor, Choreographer:
Lynn grew up in South Kensington, England, where she attended Royal Academy of Music, graduated with Teaching Degree in Classical Ballet, Pointe, Character and Partnering. Lynn Owned and operated her own dance school for 25 years. with her mom Miss Nina, together they hosted RAD summer schools and submitted students for RAD exams for 15 years. Lynn danced professionally with Pennsylvania Ballet, Hartford Ballet , Hartford Opera. She is married lives in Amherst has 3 sons. Currently Miss Lynn is teaching at several dance studios, . Judges dance competitions and is involved with the Miss NH Scholarship pageant.
Kate Walker – Instructor, Choreographer:
Kate has been dancing for 30 years; competitively for 10 years. She is trained in tap, jazz and musical theatre. While Kate focuses on teaching the classics of tap, she is quirky and enjoys “choreographing outside the box.” Kate is a student of dance and frequently attends classes, workshops, conventions and tap festivals. Since she was a child, Kate dream of being a dance teacher. After years of hard work and dedication, her dream is now a reality. Known for years by many as the “Studio Aunt”, Kate loves being a part of the Dancesteps family!
Lindsay Kirouac -Instructor, Choreographer:
Lindsay has been dancing since the age of 2. She started dancing competitively in New York. She has been trained in Tap, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Lyrical, Hip/Hop, Modern, Acro. and African Funk. Lindsay studied dance and business at Franklin Pierce University, there she studied abroad in France for a semester. She attended th Biennale de le Danse festival and got the opportunity to meet and study under choreographers from all over the world, both in dance and performance art. Once returned home she continued her dance education at Plymouth State University as well as teaching at multiple studios. Lindsay has been a competition choreographer for four years and absolutely loves it. If Lindsay is not in the studio you can find her at the gym boxing. We are thrilled to have Lindsay on our staff.
